There are an impressive 5 different petrol engines to choose from for anyone seeking to buy an Audi 3 Hatchback. The entry level model is unsurprisingly the weakest and needs extra work to deliver a performance. Stepping up a level improves things somewhat but it's not until you reach some of the higher entry petrol engines that you notice a real emphasis on speed. There are also 3 diesel engines available with an entry level that as a start stop engine system and two more powerful models.
How can we describe the A3 in terms of its drive? Perhaps, decent yet unremarkable sums it up quite nicely. There's nothing wrong with either the grip or the control but steering can certainly feel light and lacking a bit of responsive feedback. Both the standard version and SE models are fairly comfortable cars despite firmness to the ride. Over uneven surfaces, however, the sports models are just too firm and lacking comfort.
There is an element of noise from the wind and road to contend with but it's certainly not too intrusive and whilst the mid range petrol engines can have a certain throatiness to them when revs are high; there are certainly no worries with other models. Gear changing can be an issue with stubborn resistance when changing and this is disappointing.
A nice range of trims mean that there are 5 different packages available. Alloy wheels, air con, CD player and alloys being present in the standard package. A multifunction steering wheel is available if you upgrade to the SE package. Inevitably, things are sportier with the sports trim, with sports seats and suspension, climate control and an MP3 input socket. The S Line package delivers bigger alloys, an impressive bodykit, and a more sporty trim for the interior and part leather upholstery. If you want full leather trim, xenon headlights and a four wheel drive, then the S3 package will be the one for you.

I have only had this car for about a month, but so far so good! I have put it to the test as well, on both motorways and driving in built up areas and it responds really well to each. There is just a good sense of overall quality with power and torque feeling impressive. In the town you will notice it picks up really nicely with plenty of power to overtake should you need to. With around 40 mpg, fuel economy is pretty solid. The Audi A3 hatchback is a decent car.
