We are delighted to report that all of the Audi A5 Sportback models pack a decent punch in the power department. The entry level petrol model, although somewhat modest compared to its larger engine counterparts, still delivers a solid performance, all things considered. Stepping up through the engine sizes and the power and performance is inevitably even greater. Over in the diesel corner, things also read well. The more powerful units threaten to go toe to toe with more illustrious sports cars, while the entry level diesel is once again a good all rounder, at least in terms of engine performance.
Suspensions are a mixed bunch throughout the Audi A5 Sportback roster, including standard and sports versions (S Line). You can also choose between front wheel drive or four wheeled drive, depending on your personal preference. There's nothing wrong with the way the car grips either but steering lets the side down a bit and has a tendency to feel far too light, especially on bumpier surfaces. Uneven surfaces really seem to tell on this car affecting the ride enough to bother you but once up to cruising speed it seems to sort itself out and feels much better.
This A5 Sportback favours side windows that are frameless, like the coupe, and you sort of expect there to be plenty of wind noise. The noise does eventually kick in at high speeds but until then it's surprisingly quiet. There is a problem with noise though which unfortunately seems to be an unwanted feature with various Audi models, so with an exhaust bordering on boomy coupled with excessive road noise, your car's interior feels far from tranquil. It's a shame.
Although the entry level trim has plenty to offer, there does seem to be an understandable trend towards upgrading to the SE package, where you will find extras such as a stereo that's been upgraded, rear parking sensors, leather seats and of course bigger alloys. The S Line trim package is notably sportier and features the ever more popular xenon headlights. Perhaps it's the S5 that sits at the top of the "trim" pile with better leather upholstery, other cosmetic improvements and front sports seats which you can adjust electrically.

In my opinion, this is definitely the nicest looking Audi! We've had ours a few months now and comfortably getting 40 mpg from it. I am relatively tall but sitting in the back is not a problem and remains comfortable. Great car, I would recommend it.
