If you are wondering about the engine power of the BMW 5 Series Touring, then wonder no longer because whichever engine option you go for, you will be rewarded with plenty of power. Even the entry level diesels are nothing short of impressive. There are another 3 diesel engines to choose from and each of them step the power up to even greater levels, with the top of the range being particularly speedy. There are also 3 petrol engines on offer and you are unlikely to be disappointed with the performance of any of them.
Again, we are sad to report that the basic suspension settings on the 5 Series Touring are just not to the standard you would hope to find, so as with some of the other 5 Series models you learn that you have to upgrade the suspension package (at extra cost) to get either the variable damper control or the adaptive drive system. Only with one of these systems in place does the car become what you want it to be and you find that everything works more effectively.
On the whole the 5 Series Touring is a quiet car, although there are versions where some low level engine noise is detectable. There is some wind noise around the door mirrors but really nothing to disturb the overall peace. The automatic gearbox is nothing short of exceptional and however you like to drive your car it responds to your inputs in a very pleasing fashion.
The trim package across all versions of the car is decent, with each and every model being equipped with steering mounted controls for your stereo. You also get climate control and cruise control as well as electric windows. If you want to add additional extras to the packages, there are certainly plenty of options available to tailor the car as you like, including active steering and adaptive drive options.

For practical reasons, I always seem to end up with an estate car and I have to say that the BMW 5 Series Touring is probably just about the best one I have ever owned. If you have a family and like to drive to your holiday destination, then this car really is ideal for the long haul. It's comfortable and it's relatively quiet. Best of all, for me at least, it's really quite affordable to run and when you need the power of a good car, it's all there waiting for you. Definitely recommended!
