Plenty of engine options exist, if you are considering a Porsche Panamera, with a range of petrol engines to select from amongst the different models as well as a diesel specific Panamera. All of them offer plenty of speed and power, making for a difficult choice and personal preference will probably be the most important factor. All of the petrol offerings are decent, with the GTS, Turbo and Turbo S models setting the road on fire in terms of pace! The solitary diesel option certainly proves to be flexible and is no slouch either.

Many of the Panamera models have three different suspension settings which are Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus which can be switched between at will by the driver. If you opt for either the GTS or the Turbo models the standard suspension mode is replaced by an air suspension which retains the three different settings of the standard version. This air suspension can be opted for as an upgrade on the other models. What you actually end up with is a ride that is on the firm side when in built up areas but flexible and nimble when the speed is ramped up. The Panamera certainly looks quite different to most Porsche models but thankfully the handling remains largely familiar. Perhaps one exception to this is the Hybrid model which if opting for tyres with low rolling resistance tends to run wide earlier than the other versions.

Road noise is thankfully kept to an absolute minimum with this car, regardless of whether you are on a good or bad surface. The semi automatic gearbox is generally very responsive but can be prone to a hiccup or two at slower speeds. Definitely a negative is the sensation that it takes a moment to pull away, even after the accelerator is hit. The engine noise is pleasingly plump when putting your foot down and relatively serene at all other times. Sadly the diesel version sounds like so many diesels do and the Hybrid model is not as smooth as the others.

The basic trim package for the Panamera certainly provides most of what you would ever need; although some of the models in the upper range add plenty of extras should you want them. The entry level will see you rewarded with sat nav, alloy wheels, cruise control parking sensors and a leather interior.
