Porsche Cayenne Electric Review

The brand-new Porsche Cayenne Electric represents a mammoth milestone in the Porsche lineup and marks the next chapter for the best-selling SUV in the brand’s history.

Since its inception in 2002, the Cayenne has been integral to Porsche’s success, with 102,889 units sold in 2024 alone. The Cayenne transformed Porsche from a niche sports car manufacturer into the global performance SUV powerhouse it is today.

In 2026, the very first Cayenne Electric models will hit the roads, and they arrive with a bold promise – to deliver the same impact as the original Cayenne did more than two decades ago.

So, does the new Porsche Cayenne Electric deliver on its promise?

Here’s what Alex, founder of Morgan Highfield & Land, has to say:

Performance & Driving Dynamics

Summary:

  • Dual-motor all-wheel-drive system.
  • 0–62 mph in just 4.8 seconds with 442 BHP (base), 0–62 mph in 2.5 seconds with 1156 BHP (Turbo).
  • Active Suspension Management.
  • Rear-axle steering (optional).
  • Regenerative braking system (up to 600kW).

The Porsche Cayenne Electric is no ordinary SUV – it’s a performance powerhouse. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivers instant torque to all four wheels, providing breathtaking acceleration power, whether you opt for the Turbo or base model.

The base Cayenne Electric will get you from 0–62 mph in just 4.8 seconds, while the Turbo Electric is astonishingly fast- you’ll hit 62 mph in a staggering 2.5 seconds with over 1,000 BHP, making it one of the fastest electric SUVs ever produced and putting it firmly in supercar territory.

The handling is equally impressive. Porsche’s Active Suspension Management ensures the perfect balance of comfort and performance, automatically adapting to city streets and narrow, winding country roads. Optional rear-axle steering improves cornering stability and manoeuvrability, making this full-size SUV feel surprisingly agile.

The refined regenerative braking system that’s capable of harvesting up to 600kW of energy far exceeds the capabilities of other modern SUVs. Despite its electric powertrain and 600 kg battery, the Cayenne Electric retains that iconic Porsche driving feel – responsive, precise and above all exhilarating.

Range, Battery & Charging

Summary:

  • 113 kWh high-voltage battery.
  • up to 398 miles of WLTP range (standard model).
  • 10–80% in 16 minutes (under optimal conditions).
  • Charging Planner.

Built on advanced 800-volt architecture, the Cayenne delivers on both ultra-rapid charging and impressive efficiency. Under the floor of the new Cayenne Electric sits an impressive 113 kWh high-voltage battery, with 108kWh usable capacity, delivering up to 398 miles of WLTP range in the standard model, and up to 387 miles in the Turbo Electric. In real-world conditions, this range is estimated to be around 275 miles (combined city and highway driving).

The Porsche high-voltage battery is typically covered by an 8-year or 100,000+ mile warranty, providing additional peace of mind for long-term ownership or leasing.

DC fast charging means you can recharge the battery from 10–80% in as little as 16 minutes (under optimal conditions). You can add around 300 miles of range in the time it takes to grab a coffee – transforming what it means to make long-distance journeys in an EV and eliminating any notion of range anxiety.

Using an 11 kW AC home charger, a full charge takes approximately 11 hours and 45 minutes.

Porsche’s intelligent Charging Planner works seamlessly with the navigation system to precondition the battery before charging stops, ensuring maximum efficiency and charging speed.

Competition

The Porsche Cayenne Electric is firmly set to dominate the luxury electric SUV market, but how does it stand out from the other big players?

How Does the Porsche Cayenne Electric Compare to the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV?

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is refined, comfortable and spacious, but its driving experience falls short of Porsche’s latest electric SUV. The Cayenne Electric delivers significantly sharper handling, much quicker acceleration in Turbo form, and nearly double the towing capability.

How Does the Porsche Cayenne Electric Compare to the Lotus Eletre?

The Lotus Eletre is an innovative performance electric SUV with impressive acceleration power and confidence-inspiring handling. Yet the new Cayenne Electric still wins out, with faster acceleration, more horsepower and longer range.

How Does the Porsche Cayenne Electric Compare to the BMW IX M70?

While the BMW IX M70 offers a more futuristic and tech-forward cabin and better value for money, the 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric outperforms the BMW iX M70 in speed, charging and driving dynamics.
