The Audi Q2 is still very much a SUV despite it being a little smaller than the manufacturer's own Q3. There is still room four 4 adults here and if you like choice, then you can pick your preference when it comes to engine type, as both diesel and petrol options are available.

If you have always liked the idea of owning a 'proper' SUV from a top manufacturer but have always felt priced out of the range, then the Q2 from Audi could be your entry into the market. It's certainly the most affordable and smallest example of a 'proper' SUV currently available.
Whether you opt for petrol or diesel in the tank, you have a number of choices, with a 1.0 litre as well as a 1.4 litre when it comes to petrol. On the diesel front, choose either the 1.6 litre or the top of the range 2.0 litre, with the latter having optional 4 wheel drive control available. All of the other models are very much front wheel drive only.
Looking at the engine types a little more closely and you will find that it's very much a case of what will best suit your driving requirements. In terms of a petrol engine, the smallest engine available is perfectly suited for 'about town' driving as well as some occasional motorway excursions. The larger petrol engine perhaps delivers a more all-round performance. The entry level diesel option is probably the best of the bunch, combining those all important factors of performance and cost together to produce a more than decent package.
When purchasing the Audi Q2, you will automatically get the Dynamic suspension (on the soft side) system as the standard option. Various other models allow you to opt for a firmer ride with the Sports suspension while purchasing Sport or S line trims opens up the possibility of also buying the adaptive suspension system. Again, it's all about personal preference and budget.
The Q2 does share some similarities with another in the Audi range – the A3 hatchback. There is slightly more in the way of body lean here (in comparison with the A3) but compared to other SUV's, the Q3 certainly feels flatter on the corners. Grip is generally impressive when cornering and the top of the range 4 – wheel drive model delivers decent traction.
In terms of transmission, the 6-speed manual gearbox is easy and smooth with some nice bite on the clutch. The top of the range diesel rewards owners with the dual-clutch S-tronic automatic system and the smoothness of the shifting is a real highlight.
Slide into the cabin and there is plenty to impress here too. Everything feels like it's where it should be and all of the surfaces and finishes are immaculate while the lighting helps create a sense of comfort and class. For those that like to add and personalise the interior, there are plenty of trim options here to dabble with.
