All BMW i High-Voltage Batteries have an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first from the date of first registration. However, many EV batteries can last up to 20 years, as long as they are properly maintained. This time frame is similar to the lifepace of traditional ICE batteries in petrol or diesel cars.

Yes, the BMW iX2 xDrive30 M Sport has all-wheel drive and a twin-motor powertrain that can produce 308bhp. However, the entry-level eDrive20 M Sport only has front-wheel drive and 201bhp.
Yes, the BMW iX2 includes a heat pump as standard. The heat pump is integrated into the automatic climate control system and can precool or preheat the cabin before driving. This allows the iX2 to run more efficiently in cold weather.

Electric cars previously have not had to pay Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), which is sometimes called Road Tax. However, this changed on the 1st of April, 2025.
From the 1st of April 2025, drivers of electric vehicles will need to pay VED for the first time:

- For most EV drivers, this will cost £195 a year. This includes EVs registered between the 1st of April 2017 and the 31st of March 2025.
- New electric cars registered on or after 1 April 2025 will only have to pay the lowest first-year rate of VED, which is £10 a year. After the first year, they will need to pay the standard rate of £195 a year.
- Drivers of new electric vehicles with a list price that exceeds £40,000 will need to pay £620 a year. This is because the Expensive Car Supplement exemption for electric vehicles will end in April, meaning drivers of new EV cars above the threshold will need to pay the supplement of £425 a year for the first five years of the vehicle’s life. This is in addition to road tax, giving an annual total of £620 for the first five years.
- EVs registered between the 1st of March 2001 and the 30th of March 2017 will move from band A to band B and will only need to pay £20 a year.
